Ron Rowsell, Honorary Secretary at Brecon, said: “We’re delighted to open the new season, at home against Pentyrch, with a state of the art scoreboard in place and in action.

“When the old scoreboard succumbed to one of the winter storms of 2012/13 the reconstruction of a new scoreboard featured prominently in the Club’s Development Plans. As other things took priority it slipped a little in the order of priority until during the winter of 2013/14 the board was repainted at around the time that the WRU advised clubs that the old Millennium Stadium Scoreboard was to the put up as a competition prize. While I was pretty proud of my paintwork I decided to ask the club to hold back on re-erecting our old Board and to make a big effort to win the Millennium Board. This was done more in hope than in expectation but we had to be in it to win it. To our surprise and delight we won it!”

“When the board arrived we had to decide how to accommodate the ‘monster’. Fortunately a local Structural Steelwork firm W.H.Ricketts and Son came to our aid by sponsoring and fabricating the steelwork we required.”

The WRU continues to work with its community clubs to access the best facilitates to grow the game of rugby in Wales. In previous seasons, the Millennium Stadium has recycled Wales’ home turf at community clubs in Wales.
