It was not a nice match to watch though Aberavon tackled their hearts out and not only did both sides have two players yellow-carded, but both halves ran for at least 50 minutes.
It was a match that saw Aberavon backs coach and former Wales cap Andrew Williams come on for his first Premiership match since April 2009 but he still looked sharp. His pass sent Will Price racing through near the finish and two or three more minutes just might have seen the Wizards snatch a winning try.
Aberavon coach Jason Hyatt, said: “I felt we did enough to win and I certainly thought the yellow-cards were puzzling.”
With Bridgend losing, Aberavon’s one point actually took them up to tenth in the table, but Friday’s match with Bridgend will be a real battle.
Ebbw Vale hold the lead in the Premiership as Pontypridd could not take a bonus against Bedwas, but Strange warned: “We now face some hard games starting with the trek on Friday night away to Carmarthen.”
Ebbw’s fine driving maul saw flanker Ronnie Kynes get the only try while fly halves Ethan Davies and Ceiron Thomas kick three penalties each.
