The top two sides in the Principality Premiership will clash in the next round of the SSE SWALEC Cup with Ebbw Vale drawn at home against Pontypridd, who saw off Bargoed 41-13 on Saturday.

RGC 1404 have been rewarded for their 32-26 away win over Neath last weekend with a home draw against Cross Keys, who beat Llanelli 52-24 at Parc y Scarlets.

Llandovery, who beat Narberth 82-11, host Swansea at Church Bank, while Merthyr have another home draw after narrowly beating Glynneath at The Wern.

Llanharan, who claimed an away scalp over fellow Championship side Blackwood (48-14) in Round One, will welcome the winner of the postponed Cardiff v Bridgend match to The Dairy Field.

Newport, who secured a one point winner over Aberavon on Saturday, travel to Tata Steel in the next round, Cardiff Met, who beat Tondu 27-5, travel to the winner of the postponed Bedwas v Pontypool game and Carmarthen Quins host Bridgend Athletic, who both had byes in Round One. 

Ebbw Vale head coach Jason Strange said, “If the game is anything like the quarter-final two years ago, it will be a cracker. We lost that match 23-22 but it was a fantastic advert for the game and we had a crowd of around 4000 at Eugene Cross Park.

“It’s the type of game all the players, coaches, support staff and supporters all look forward to and there will certainly be no need to motivate the players.”
