The 22-year-old Ebbw Vale product was prolific with Cross Keys in the Principality Premiership before a brief stint at Sale Sharks. The Abergavenny born outside half, made his first appearance for the Dragons during their win over London Wasps in the 2013/14 LV=Cup at Rodney Parade. Jones went on to make two more appearances for the Welsh region during this season which went to earn him a development contract.

Jones has fought his way into the outside-half berth at the East Wales region and has made 18 appearances across three tournaments this season. The playmaker will be hoping to mark his new deal with a starting place against Ulster when they travel to Newport on Sunday.

After putting pen to paper, Jones said: “It’s great to have finally put pen to paper at the Dragons, my home region.

“I have had a great experience at both Ebbw Vale RFC and Cross Keys and I want to thank them for the help they have given me along the way. I am looking forward to being able to fully focus my time on growing as a player alongside the Dragons and becoming a regular starter for them.”

Director of rugby Lyn Jones added: “Quite simply, Dorian is an excellent player, with an excellent skill set; more importantly, being a student of the game, we are all convinced he is going to be a major influence in creating a successful Newport Gwent Dragons.

“At the age of 22 he is as good as any 22-year-old outside half, except Dai Watkins, I have seen coming out of the Valleys of Gwent.”
