The Black & Ambers still have an unenviable injury list but are boosted by the availability of Wales U20 players Barney Nightingale, Owen Davies and Alex Jeffries. Wales Sevens star Luke Morgan makes a rare appearance in the B&A shirt and the problem position of No 10 goes to Codey Rees who makes his first start for the club.

Injury problems sees second  row Adam Frampton switch to No 6.

Newport will keen to put one over Cardiff not least because they will feel that they should have won earlier in the season at Cardiff Arms Park when the home side held out to take the win.

Newport: G O’Driscoll, L Morgan, B Nightingale, D Franchi, E Frewen, C Rees, O Davies, J Greenfield, Andrew Brown, A Jeffries, Adam Brown (capt), D Partridge, A Frampton, R Jenkins, S Feehan.
Reps : D Rogers, D Pattison, J Monck, R Gibbon, E Whitson, A Quick, N Edwards, L ap Myrddin.
