Both sides showed intent to run with ball in hand early on, although it took until the 25th minute for the first score to come. A maul from the visitors deep in the Ravens half was pulled down by the hosts. Cross Keys played advantage and Phil Williams went over out wide. Ethan Davies added the conversion.
A second Keys try was to follow shortly after as Scott Matthews touched down under the posts following a 5 metre scrum. The Ravens held out the initial effort but quick recycling allowed Matthews to go over. Davies added the extras.
The Ravens got themselves back in the game as halftime approached. A great break from Ben Jones saw the second row offload infield to Matthew Phillips. The back rower and was halted and the Ravens recycled quickly. The ball was spread wide where James Dixon was waiting and the fly half squeezed over in the corner. The tough conversion attempt was sent wide by Owen Howe.
Cross keys went on an 8 try second half rampage that started with a 51st minute score from Richard Cornock. Lloyd Lewis touched down minutes later – both scorers converted by Ethan Davies.
Further tries for Cross Keys included a seven minute hat trick for wing Nathan Trowbridge between the 58th and 65th minute. Leon Brown, Ethan Davies and James Leadbitter also went over for the visitors as Davies only missed 2 conversions all evening.
The Ravens were kept scoreless throughout the second half in what was a clear statement of intent from title chasers Cross Keys.
