The Wales squad teamed up with Melanoma UK recently to provide the squad and management with skin checks from an expert dermatologist.

Under the watchful eye of Melanoma UK’s Christian Aldridge and National Team Doctor Dr. Geoff Davies players and management attended the health screening at the team’s training camp.

As well as screening, players were educated on what they should look out for when checking their own skin.

“Player welfare is given very high priority within our medical team and this melanoma screening session was therefore most welcome,” said WRU National Team Doctor, Dr Geoff Davies.

“As well as providing reassurance and education to both our players and management regarding melanoma this session will also help to raise the profile of the important charity, Melanoma UK.

“Their message to monitor moles regularly, seek medical advice when a mole changes (bleeding, itchy, an odd shape or colour, raised, larger than normal and any skin issue you are not happy about) and to protect skin from sun damage is a very important one, particularly in younger adults.

“The WRU medical team were very pleased to be able to help to publicise this very important skin condition by supporting Melanoma UK.”
