More than 160 teams have competed in the Youth Cup, Plate and Bowl this season, with the six finalists battling it out for the coveted titles in a festival of youth rugby.

The knock-out competitions allow youth teams in every division to have a chance to reach the finals at the home of Welsh rugby, similar to the SSE SWALEC Cup, Plate and Bowl at senior club level.

The day kicks off at 11am with the Bowl Final in which Burry Port Youth will hope to pave the way for their senior side ahead of next week’s SSE SWALEC Bowl Final when they take on Newport HSOB Youth.

In the Plate Final (1.15pm), Brynmawr Youth will play Gowerton Youth, while the Youth Cup Final will bring down the curtain on the day when Cardiff Met University and Cowbridge Youth go head to head at 3.30pm. Cardiff Met will be confident after beating last year’s finalists Penallta 27-19 in the quarter-finals and Mountain Ash 37-15 in the semis while Cowbridge beat Crymych 24-6 before seeing off Llanelli Wanderers 13-6 in the last four.

WRU Head of Participation Ryan Jones, who himself played for Risca Youth, and is now tasked with increasing participation at this level of the game said,  “Youth rugby is an integral part of club rugby in Wales. I still treasure my youth rugby days as some of my most memorable times when you play for pure enjoyment.

“The Youth Finals Day is a wonderful opportunity for all those who have got this far in the Cup competitions. They will have an experience to treasure forever. It’s days like these that inspire those involved to stay within our game as players, coaches, referees and valued volunteers.

“The Finals may provide a stepping stone for some to step up to a higher level as players, but there is an important place for everyone in our game and others will go on to become pillars of our clubs, making them sustainable for the future.”

Tickets for Youth Cup Finals Day will be available from Gate 3, adults £5, under 16s free.
