Wales captain Luke Treharne, who led his side to victory against Australia in the Bowl final at Twickenham on Sunday in the last round of this year’s series, is already counting down the days for next year’s kick-off in Dubai.
“I’m looking forward to my second season on the World Series. Next season follows a similar structure to the season we just completed in Twickenham last weekend,” he said.
Treharne, one of three Wales Sevens core players selected in the men’s GB 7s extended squad for this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio, will next season have to juggle his flourishing player career with his studies at Peninsula Medical School (Exeter and Plymouth University).
“I will have to balance my medical studies with next year’s series which will be an added challenge but after finishing this season strongly on the second day in London, the boys are looking forward to next season already.”
The 2016-17 series retains the same schedule as this season, kicking off in Dubai on 2-3 December, visiting 10 cities across five continents before concluding in London on 20-21 May.
