Gwernyfed will have a true battle on their hands when they travel to St Helens to face the Premiership A champions.
Cup holders Swansea, who took the victory in their league encounter and have not been defeated since December, will be pitted as favourites but Gwernyfed can draw confidence from their recent run of form, eliminating Pencoed and Bonymaen from the competition.
In the second semi-final, Premiership B Champions Llandaff North will make the long journey north to face Caernarfon.
Llandaff North’s convincing victories over Whitland and Burry Port will give them confidence to face the Premiership challengers and last year’s losing finalists whose 96-10 victory over Seven Sisters saw them make their way to the semi-final.
Whitland’s 55-5 victory over west Wales rivals Haverfordwest shows they have what it take to go all the way in the Plate competition. But standing in their way are Pencoed who finished Champions of Division 1.
The second Plate semi-final sees a repeat of last year’s as Senhenydd travel to Seven Sisters. Although Seven took the spoils 40-20 in last years encounter, they’ll need to bring their A game as in-form Senhenydd’s season saw them miss out on the top spot of Division 1 by a single point.
Taffs Well will need to draw on the home supporters as they face league rivals Morriston in the Bowl semi-final. Morriston have claimed both victories in their tightly contested league encounters 19-7 and 17-5.
Tumble and Deri needed to eliminate both North Wales entrants COBRA and Welshpool to reach the second Bowl semi-final. Both teams have on three occasions this season with Deri leading in victories 2-1.
Last year’s Youth Cup champions Cardiff Quins travel west to face league rivals Hendy. Both have enjoyed a successful season finishing second and third in Youth Division 1 with Hendy victorious in the previous encounter 32-27.
Youth Division 2 East Champions Nelson will host league rivals Pencoed who narrowly finished behind them in the league. Both teams knocked out higher ranked Miners and Jesters respectively in the quarter and will relish the chance to make it to finals day.
