Wales have won their last four RBS 6 Nations matches against France, a run stretching back to 2012, and conceded one try in their most recent five games when facing tomorrow’s visitors.
However McBryde believes that impressive runs means nothing to the upcoming match.
“You can never take a French team lightly and with a coach like Guy Noves in charge, the success he has had with Toukouse, especially in a European Cup, that is certainly the case,” said McBryde.
“If you create an identity in a team, then everyone buys into that ambition and match it with your training and playing, you will be a handful.
“The records of the past should stay in the past, tomorrow night is something completely different – they have two wins out of two and are growing in confidence.
“Shaun Edwards (defence coach) is never happy you conceded a try and we’ve conceded a couple in the first two games.”
McBryde also took the opportunity to explain his pleasure at the development of Taulupe Faletau into being a regular in the number 8 jersey.
“Taulupe is one of the best number 8’s in world rugby, as an individual he has grown into being one of the first names on the teamsheet,” added McBryde.
“He commands that position with the forwards, his tight game has improved in competing with opposition line-out ball and winning his own as well.
“He is great under the high ball, work-rate, footwork into the contact area, you name it really – he is on top of his game at the moment.
“He is a constant because he is such a threat with ball in hand and defensively he is very tidy – he is a great footballer.”
Ahead of the second match at Principality Stadium, McBryde also explained that he believes the atmosphere tomorrow could be crucial in aiding the hosts.
“It is home advantage and we thrive on the atmosphere in the stadium, but it is a double-edged sword because sometimes the opponents thrive on it too.
“You speak to any rugby player whose has played at Principality Stadium and they will tell you that the atmosphere plays a huge part in that.
“It adds to the occasion and all the French players will be used to noisy atmospheres like this.
“It is our stadium and if we can create a big atmosphere to make it harder for France that would be brilliant.”
