With just the final round to be completed, Scarlets Under 18s have already claimed the junior crown. The senior Scarlets side had to overcome a scare last time out against Cardiff Blues before escaping with a late win to put themselves in with a chance of claiming title glory tomorrow afternoon.

The first three rounds were held before Christmas where the main focus was on SIx Nations selection. Rounds four to six were aimed more at talent development with one eye on strengthening the regional player depth.

Tomorrow’s sixth and final round of games will see four games being staged.

“This is the first time that we have done a double double-header combining U18s and seniors fixture in the same place and same day,” explained WRU’s Rhys Edwards.

“In the U18s the Scarlets have already won the competition but this is a good opportunity for the Blues who have progressed on and off the field with their programmes

“In the Seniors I expect to see another good game as the two sides produced a competitive game before Christmas where the Ospreys won.

“The ethos of the regional programme is to develop players, and I am really pleased that the regions have bought into it this year. I would like to pass on my thanks to all involved who have worked extremely hard to ensure that players have had a opportunity to develop and play.”
