Williams has kept faith with the squad which won the Bowl in Las Vegas and reached the Cup quarter-finals for the first time this series in Vancouver last time out.

“Kicking into the second half of the series we’re starting to see a level of consistency and hopefully that shines through our performances,” said Williams.

“We’ve had signs of improvement throughout the year from game to game but the last two sets of tournaments thas seen a huge improvement.

“From a results point of view we’ve showed more consistency over the last two blocks. It has been disappointing how we’ve been performing against the top tier nations and that is the next progression for the boys. We want to keep that consistency and get to Cup quarter-finals and having a crack at the top nations on a more regular basis.”

Wales will kick off their Hong Kong campaign against Korea on Friday before taking on Canada and Fiji on Saturday.

“Korea are an unknown quantity and that is always difficult – they play on the Asian series which is a very competitive competition and we’ve seen with Rugby Europe that the nations we are unfamiliar with are excellent units. We’ll just stay focussed on Korea as the first task in hand and not think about day two,” added Williams.
