It was a great way for the former Wales Under 20 centre Rheon James to bed in at the Talbot Athletic Ground as he enjoyed a win over his former club. The Wizards, who beat the English Championship club 27-24 two years earlier, ran in five tries.

Steff Andrews and Gareth Harvey crossed in the first half to keep their side in touch at 14-12, but they dominated the second period and raced into a 33-14 lead. Replacement hooker Ieuan Davies scored the first try after the break and then full back Richard Carter got a second.

Both efforts were converted by Steff Williams, who had kicked one in the first-half, before Jamie Sturgess added the extras to the fifth and final home try, and the pick of the bunch, from replacement scrum-half Jacob Flynn.

There was further good news for the cub off the field with the announcement that Allspares Auto Ltd. And Driveshaft will be sponsoring the Wizards in the new season. Allspares was established in 1984 as a family run business based in Bridgend, South Wales.

Steve Richards, Managing Director at Allspares, said: “It has given me great pleasure to add further support to the club, which has historic family links when my grandfather Ross Richards played for the club. My father had the privilege to have seen him play at the Talbot athletic ground as a young lad on numerous occasions. Ross after his playing days remained dedicated to his club in many roles over the years.”
