The north Walians made it four wins in a row as they bagged nine tries in another impressive win that keeps them within a point of Pontypool in fourth place in the table – but with games in hand. Skipper Kelvin Davies helped himself to two tries and there were six conversions hared between James Lang and Lewis Barker.
Pontypool ran out 33-17 home winners against Glynneath. Pooler were in complete control for the vast majority of the match, being 31-0 up at half time with prop Matt Prosser their outstanding performer.
In the second half, the home side looked to give some of their second string a run out, which allowed Glynneath to enjoy some possession and get on the scoreboard, but the deficit proved to be too much for them. Pontypool now sit in third place.
Even four tries for Blackwood could not stop them being hammered as Llanharan ran riot, scoring 92 points. This fantastic result for the home side means they move a point ahead of today’s opponents.
The relegation battlers are looking to turn their season round, and this stylish 92-24 win looked to be an excellent starting point. Notching up an unstoppable 14 tries, Josh Clark helped himself to four whilst Sam Edwards scored two. The Black and Blues face bottom side Tondu next week.
Elsewhere, Bridgend continued their topsy-turvy season with a vital 24-10 win against Tata Steel. With four different try scorers – Rhodri Apsee, Griss Davies, Jake Williams and Ryan Owen – the home side will have been delighted to get the bonus point as they dominated the game with some effective forward play.
Tata Steel had a spell of dominance in the second period as Davies and Nathan Holman were sent to the sin bin for infringement, but it was not enough and Bridgend Athletic held on for the win.
The matches between Bargoed and Tondu, Merthyr and Cardiff Met, and Newbridge and Swansea were all postponed due to frozen pitches.
