Prior to this game, Wales Women take on Ireland at 12 noon in a bid to clinch the Triple Crown. Both games will be broadcast live, Wales Women will be streamed on a world wide feed on s4c.co.uk while the Wales Under 18 match will be shown live on S4C.

The side, skippered by Blues lock Calum Haggett, narrowly lost to France in Massy last weekend (20-17) and head coach Geraint Lewis insists lessons must be learned, and quickly in order to meet the English challenge head on.

“The warm-up against Leicester two weeks ago was disappointing in lots of ways but we learned some important lessons and the French test last weekend was certainly an improvement. The forwards produced a good platform, the half backs showed good control and the back three displayed pace and guile to enable us to score some impressive tries.

“However, there’s a harsh reality in international rugby – in order to get a good result you need to improve continuously, and we have been working on certain areas this week.

“We need to be more clinical as England will have some dangerous runners who will punish any mistake or missed opportunities. We need to be tight defensively and not give England any space.

“This is a very important age group in the development pathway. It’s when players are entering academies and tasting intense periods of international rugby for the first time.

“It’s important we take pride in the jersey and concentrate on our own game. We want to play some rugby but also strike the right blend and make the appropriate decisions in the game.

“We have to do the basics very well and if we do that, the result will follow.”

Lewis is looking forward to being part of a whole day of rugby at St Helens.

“It promises to be a great occasion. St Helens is a great surface, there will be two international games on show, which we are thrilled to be part of and we will endeavour to play some good, open rugby.”

After Sunday’s game, a new, slightly younger squad will be selected to travel to the FIRA Under 18 tournament at Easter.

Tickets,  which include entry for both games are £10 for adults and under 16s go for free. £5 entry after 1.30pm for Wales Under 18 game only
