Ravens out to end Quins bogey

Ravens out to end Quins bogey

Bridgend Ravens travel to Carmarthen Quins on Saturday looking to win their fifth consecutive Principality Premiership game.

Having disposed of Neath, Cardiff, Bedwas and Pontypridd in their last four Premiership games, Bridgend look to continue their good form at the home of eleventh place Quins. Bridgend backed up the four victories with a bonus point in a home defeat to Cardiff before a highly impressive 8-14 win at Sardis Road, both in the newly introduced Foster’s Challenge Cup.

A huge incentive for Bridgend is that a fifth win, in their eleventh game would equal their five league wins in the whole of the 2014/15 campaign. They failed to win at Carmarthen in their league game last year, but did beat the Quins 22-20 in the SSE SWALEC Cup semi final, the last time the teams met.

Carmarthen’s disappointing league form was put behind them in the Foster’s Challenge Cup, where after a 22-22 draw with Llandovery, they comfortably beat Llanelli 38-18 in midweek. Quins three league wins have come against Neath (twice) and Ebbw Vale away. They’ll look to secure a fourth win when Bridgend come to town, in a fixture with favours the side from West Wales historically.

The Ravens have yet to beat Carmarthen Quins in the league since their return to the Premiership in 2011.
