Ponty ended their league season on a low after being beaten 29-5 by Llanelli, but that didn’t stop the men from Sardis Road finishing top of the league.
The Keys snuck into the play-off picture as they finished level on points with fourth placed Llandovery, but snatched a semi-final spot as they have won more games.
Ponty go into the Swalec Cup Final off the back of British and Irish Cup heartbreak, where they were knocked out on try-count after drawing 22-22 with Leinster A after extra time.
Cross Keys are underdogs for Sunday’s showpiece but Andrews is looking to upset the odds and the Ponty faithful.
“They played a professional team in Leinster last week so I’m sure they will prepare just as they did for us on Sunday and it might actually give them a boost to try and get back on track for their double. It’s our job to put a stop to that,” said Andrews.
“We’ve got a lot to play for. We’ve had a few set-backs during the season so we’re over the moon to be here in this position, and Sunday is make or break.
“We thrive on being the underdogs, we don’t deal too well with being favourites, mainly because we aren’t used to it. We’ve put in some good performances against tough opposition and now the final will be the toughest one yet.
“Last time we were here we won so we can hopefully repeat that again this time, but in our league anyone can beat anyone. It’s about who turns up on the day and produces the goods.
“Ponty have their obvious threats in Dafydd Lockyer, but they’ve also got bags of pace out-wide as well. I think it will be evenly matched and it will come down to a couple of points. The bookies don’t think that but it’s our job to prove them wrong.”
