Cross is one of three players who return from last week’s disappointing round in Manchester with Tom Williams and Jason Harries also being named in the squad.
“It’s an honour to lead your country so to do so for the very first time is very special for me,” said Cross. “This is a big tournament for us as we want to right a few wrongs from last weekend in Manchester where we were disappointed with results.
“We were flat so hopefully the extra week together will stand us in good stead for this weekend’s tournament in Romania,” he added.
The World Series kicks off on the Gold Coast in Australia on 11-12 October and Cross is determined to hit the ground running.
“This tournament gives a few of the younger guys a chance to push for places for the opening tournament in the World Series. We want to improve on last season’s final position which means we have to be more consistent throughout the season. By doing well this weekend it will give us a boost for Australia and hopefully we can kick on from there.”
