Donna Marshall from Taffs Well RFC near Cardiff picked up the honour from WRU Chairman Gareth Davies at the awards ceremony.

The event, organised by BBC Cymru Wales and Sport Wales was held at the Wales National Centre for Sport.

Donna was inspired to start the coaching programme because her own daughter has a form of autism.

She said: “I did not expect to win and I am totally and utterly shocked but delighted at receiving the award.

“I love the work and the reward is seeing the faces of the children on the pitch as they take part.

“Hopefully this honour will get our name out there and encourage more young people to get involved.

“I would be delighted if we could expand the work because these young people really benefit from involvement with rugby.”

Donna was nominated for the award by the WRU club operations team and also features in the WRU’s ‘I am Wales’ campaign which celebrates all levels of rugby in Wales.
