The former Wales captain, who recently returned to the first team fold
following a devastating catalogue of injuries, is vowing to drive Cardiff to
victory in a must-win game.
Even if Cardiff notch up their fourth victory of the qualifying campaign,
they will have to rely on other results to clinch a quarter final place.
But Humphreys is adamant that the Black and Blues can complete the double
over the English side after securing a 25-7 victory at the Arms Park last
year.
“I think we can win this game and then qualification will rest on other
results,” said Humphreys.
“It will be a difficult game as Northampton will be playing for pride and will want to get their revenge.
“They have some very good players who have played at the highest level so
it won’t be easy.
“But we are fired up for this game and the sprits in the camp are high.
“We were disappointed to have lost in Glasgow and now want to finish the
campaign on a high note and the rest is out of our hands.”
And having cast aside his 12-month injury hell, Humphreys, who returned to
first team action last month, says he is now enjoying his rugby more than ever.
“It’s great that I don’t wake up in pain anymore and it makes a difference
feeling healthy.
“Not being hampered by injury gives the game a whole different complexion
and I look forward to every match now.
“The pain at the time was excruciating but I am now back to playing at my
best and I am optimistic for the future.”
