Welsh Players Look For Positives
Andy Marinos has spoken to Welsh fans after the nail biting match against France last Saturday.
37% of voters in the WRU poll gave Marinos the man of the match award, and the Newport ace said
“We have got three games left, which is plenty for us to get back on track.
“The message has to be – all is not lost. We can really take some positives from this performance, in the way we played.
The Millennium stadium crowd was treated to one of the most exciting climaxes in its short history at the weekend, and the atmosphere was not lost on the players.
“There was the most amazing atmosphere in the stadium…the support was amazing.” added Marinos
He caught the eye on Saturday when his American Football style leap created the space for Nathan Budgett to cross the try line.
“I got the ball and the boys were shouting ‘Go forward Andy’ The only way was through the air, so that’s what I had to do”
Swansea full-back Kevin Morgan also spoke of the positives that came out of the game,
‘There were a lot of wrongs from a fortnight ago that had to be put right, so obviously everybody was up for the game. It was emotional before the match, we started off well, but unfortunately lost our way in the middle of the game. We came so close at the end so everyone’s really disappointed with that.
“I think we improved on everything, we took a good long look at ourselves after the Ireland match and realised we weren’t up to scratch. I thought even though we conceded a couple of soft tries our defence was better, our attack was better and our all round game was much improved”
Wales’ next match in this season’s Six Nations championship is Italy in the Millennium Stadium in two weeks time, and, with form much improved, home fans will be hoping for a good Welsh performance and a win to lift them off the foot of the Six Nations table.
