Wales U19 Women’s Rugby Squad

Wales U19 Women’s Rugby Squad

Many of the squad are graduates of last seasons Wales U16 team and have 2 years left at this age group. The majority are new to rugby within the last 3 years and it is down to the development of the game that these players have the opportunity of turning the English over on their own soil next month.
The WWRU have arranged 2 warm up games against Sweden at Waunarlwydd on April 1st and at Llandaff North on April 3rd where they can finalise their team and try several different combinations before they face England.
With an impressively big pack and pace out wide, Wales will be looking to play an expansive brand of rugby. Senior internationals Kerry Jenkins and Rhian Wilmott are still eligible for this age group and whilst they have the Six Nations on their mind at present they may come back in to the reckoning for the game on April 14th.
Director of Women’s Rugby Richard Hodges commented: ” Having announced a 34 strong U16 squad last week, we are pleased to put another international squad out at U19 level to represent Wales. The whole game is developing rapidly and there is no sterner test in women’s rugby at present than taking on England but we are quietly confident.”
