Edwards Set To Shine For Uwic
UWIC will look to experienced scrummager Catrin Edwards to shine against current champions Loughborough University in the BUSA Halifax Championship final tomorrow, Twickenham (kick-off 12.30pm).
Welsh prop Edwards was unofficially ‘man of the match’ during the Six Nations international on Sunday. Despite a 40-0 score line in favour of the English, the prop gained her first full cap with a solid performance in set play and an intense work rate around the pitch.
UWIC last faced Loughborough in the tournament’s semi-finals, last year. The match was drawn at 19-19 at full time, and Loughborough went through to the finals on try-count. The squads selected by both UWIC and Loughborough to represent their university in this year’s BUSA Halifax Women’s Rugby Union Championship Final at Twickenham include some very high calibre players. The majority of UWIC’s team also play for Wales at various levels, while Loughborough’s ladies number several England academy members. Given the calibre of these two evenly matched teams, this year’s BUSA Halifax Championship final should prove to be a very competitive and exciting match.
