Jenkins has recalled three internationals in Stephen Jones, Guy Easterby and Simon Easterby alongside Martyn Madden and Neil Boobyer in five changes to the side that beat Glasgow in the Welsh/Scottish league last weekend.
Gareth Bowen and Dwayne Peel will provide cover for halfbacks Jones and Easterby from the bench. Former U21 centre Tal Selley misses out at centre as Boobyer returns to fitness, Simon Easterby is preferred to Ian Boobyer in the back row and Madden comes in for Phil Booth at prop.
But Jenkins is still wary of being hit by injuries before the Sunday
fixture, “We’ve talked long and hard about the side we wanted to select,” he said.
“But there may be changes because we haven’t been able to run with that side in any session this week.
“There are niggles and bumps but we have to be positive and if those boys are available then they will be there.
“Our selection identifies the type of game we are expecting from Leicester. They have a huge physical presence up front with a huge pack and we think they are going to come with a mentality take us on as an eight up front.
“That will certainly be the case for the first 30 minutes of the game and
our selection reflects that judgement. But we have physical presence in our own back row selection with Easterby, Hodges and Quinnell and that will be vital.
“If we going to win have to nullify the intensity that Leicester will want
to bring to early exchanges of the game and hopefully we have selected the players to do that.”
