Scarlets Ready For Trip To Edinburgh

Scarlets Ready For Trip To Edinburgh

Llanelli will be back on the title trail when they head to Scotland to face Edinburgh in a vital Welsh/Scottish League match on Friday at Meadowbank (kick-off 7.30 pm).
Having missed out on a place in the Heineken Cup final in Nottingham last Sunday, Scott Quinnell will lead his Scarlet warriors even further north in an attempt to stay in touch with Neath at the top of the table.
“There are a few injuries following the Heineken Cup semi-final, but this is a resilient group of players and they are determined to remain in the race for the Welsh/Scottish League title,” said Llanelli team manager Anthony Buchanan.
“The players have all sat down together and talked about what happened in Nottingham. To a man they realise what is at stake over the next few weeks and they don’t want to end the season without some silverware.
“They understand they must get something out of the game if they are to win the title. There are three games left and, if we can win them all, we will win the title – it’s as simple as that.
“That is the sole focus for all the players and they really want to win this for the fans who supported them so magnificently in Nottingham.
“Everyone is up for the game in Edinburgh – there are no negative thoughts and there is has been no time to look back and feel sorry for what happened against Leicester. There is a league title and a cup still to be won and these players are hungrier than ever for success.”
Quinnell is one of 11 players who started against Leicester last weekend and who are retained for the trip to Edinburgh. Barry Davies takes over from the injured Garan Evans at full back and Wayne Proctor replaces Salesi Finau on the wing.
Welsh international Dwayne Peel comes in at scrum half for the injured Guy Easterby and Ian Boobyer replaces Simon Easterby in the back row. Changes among the replacements see Dafydd Jones, Michael Phillips and Tal Selly come into the squad.
Llanelli (v Edinburgh): Barry Davies; Mark Jones, Neil Boobyer, Leigh Davies, Wayne Proctor; Stephen Jones, Dwayne Peel; Martyn Madden, Robin McBryde, John
Davies, Vernon Cooper, Chris Wyatt, David Hodges, Ian Boobyer, Scott Quinnell (captain).
Replacements: Phil Booth, Marcus Thomas, Luke Gross, Dafydd Jones, Michael Phillips, Gareth Bowen, Tal Selley.
