Lewis Seals Deal With Bridgend
Former Newport coach Allan Lewis has signed a three-year deal to become the new director of rugby at Bridgend.
Lewis, who has also served as assistant coach with Llanelli and Wales, has been at the Brewery Field in a caretaker capacity since leaving Rodney Parade.
Lewis said: “Since I have been at Bridgend most of my time has been spent out on the park with the players and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them.
“There are no egos here. It’s a great pleasure to work with them. It’s important that a club progresses, but you must have goals that are sustainable.
“We need to be continually improving. There’s a great bunch of boys here and there are a lot of good youngsters in the area who will come through aswell.
“The talent in the area is phenomenal. we have to put faith in the squad and take one step foward as a time. You have to have long-term objectives rather than trying to get everything done overnight.”
Owner Leighton Samuel said, “Allan can bring confidence here. We have quality players but have had a disappointing season. We are attracting new players and Allan will give us stability.”
