Carmarthen rule Haverfordwest festival

Last Sunday saw approximately 100 girls took part in what is understood to be the first U15 and U18 Girls contact rugby fixture held at Haverfordwest.

The fixture was organised between four clubs – two local clubs Haverfordwest and Carmarthen along with two clubs who travelled quite a distance, Cynon Valley and Newport.

This was the first game of contact rugby for the Haverfordwest U15 Girls. The U18’s were playing in their second tournament. The girls progressed rapidly through the game once they gained confidence within their new found sport.

The talent on the day was superb, with the viewers’ commenting on the passing, tackles, offloads, supportive runs and the impressive tries scored.

Thanks go to Haverfordwest Committee, the WRU Referees, the teams who travelled, parents and volunteers, who all assisted in making this a most enjoyable first festival for everyone concerned.
