Thomas suffered a full dislocation of the ankle, ruptured ankle ligaments and 5 leg fractures during the Dragons Magners League match against the Blues last season.
“I’m delighted to be back with the team,” he said. “Getting game time is really important for me. I played with Pontypool last week which was good and I would be happy getting time on the pitch in the Premiership so getting back for the Dragons is great.”
Dragons supporters will already have seen Martyn warming up on the pitch before the last couple of home matches.
“After some discussions with the coaches we decided that warming up with the team would be good for me as it’s been a really tough road, not just physically but mentally too. I needed to get back into the environment and it was great to get back into a proper matchday swing in front of our supporters. I know there’s quite a few travelling up to Sale which makes a big difference to us.”
Elsewhere Joe Bearman and Matthew Watkins also make their returns to the side after long lay-offs through injury. Scott Roberts has joined the Region on permit from Bedwas to replace Ben Castle who is out with a knee injury. Steve Jones will head up the team and new scrum half signing Mike Petri will be looking to make his Dragons debut off the bench.
