The Scarlets are currently in sixth position in the table but find themselves just five points off a top-four spot and Davies knows if his side are to stand a chance of progressing after the regular season he needs three more victories.

“The only thing we can do is win our last three games,” he said.

“That is the only thing we are in control of and we may need to rely on results elsewhere, but first of all we need to win our games.

“The league is so tight this year and I can think of four or five games that we have just lost that would have made a big difference on where we are in the league.”

Munster are the visitors to Llanelli this weekend and the current league leaders will arrive in South Wales full of confidence having beaten the Scarlets on every visit to the new Parc y Scarlets stadium.

“Munster are a quality side and are used to winning,” added Davies.

“Winning is bred into them and they will want tot come here and continue their fine league form.

“They are certainly not coming here to lie down and they have always us as a challenge so I will expect they will bring a full side.

“The matches between us recently have been right and even out in Munster we were just a pass away from winning.

“They carry a lot of experience and in key moments make the right decision because of that experience but that is something we are building towards and learning.

“We have targeted a top four finish but knew that would never be easy.”
