He says they have now accumulated enough game time to prove what they can offer in midfield.
The pair will want to prove themselves when they line up against the Brian O’Driscoll and Gordon D’Arcy partnership which has already won plenty of accolades.
Davies said: “I grew up watching Brian O’Driscoll play and he and D’Arcy have been great for their provinces, Ireland and the Lions.
“But this is about confidence and although the Irish have an exciting back line we have an exciting back line as well. Saturday will be a massive task for me and Jamie but it is something we are both looking forward to immensely.
“We have analysed the opposition and now we just want to get the best out of our own midfield combination.”
Davies believes Ireland will take confidence from their pool stage victories but he reckons Wales should be pleased with what they have done so far as well.
He said: “Ireland will be pretty confident especially after taking such a big scalp as Australia but we can be confident as well after what we have done.
“Everyone is fit now in our camp and training has gone really well this week so now we have to do it on Saturday.
“Competition for places in the Welsh team is huge at the moment and i am just delighted to be involved.
“When I was on the bench against Fiji doubts creep in but when I came on I just tried to do the best I could because all of us desperately want to be part of the action.
“What we have done together as a squad right from the Poland trips and being out here together for a while now means we have confidence and feel comfortable with each other as players.
“Most modern rugby is about getting go-forward momentum over the gain line and with the ball carriers we have we want to achieve that.
“We know they are a great team and it is going to be a big ask but everything is coming together for us right now. I know people say we are a young team but there is a lot of experience in this squad and we are a good mix.
“We are used to pressure and nothing changes on Saturday. We just want to win.”
