Horgan looking for ‘attitude’

The Premiership clubs involved in this year’s British & Irish Cup make up for lost ground this weekend and there is a big West Wales clash at The Gnoll this evening when Neath entertain Swansea (KO 7.15pm).

Neath make four changes from the side that started last week and earned a bonus-point 27-12 win over Bedwas. Wing Jamie Davies, scrum-half Chris Morgans, prop Owain Ford and flanker Gareth Gravell come into the starting line up.

Neath coach Patrick Horgan was pleased with his side’s showing against Bedwas last week, saying, “We played the difficult conditions quite effectively. From the stands, it was tough to realise how treacherous it was out there and to register another bonus point win against tricky opponents was definitely an achievement.

“Similar conditions are forecast for on Friday but we know we need to go up another gear against Swansea. They had a lot of Ospreys in the earlier game at St. Helen’s – and will have again – but we feel we deserved to get more than the 33-33 draw out of that game.

“One of Wales’ rising officials Leighton Hodges is in charge this time so I don’t foresee a repeat of the ridiculous situation that reduced us to 12 men at one stage down there.

“The Gnoll should be a passionate place on Friday and we know that a win will take us back to the top. We need to play with the same attitude as we have been recently.”

Replacements (From): N.Downs, A.Littlehales, T.Price, T.Herdman, L.Ward, D.Evans, L.Williams, A.N.Other, C.Clement, T.Barry
