Dragons go down as Leinster take title

The Dragons were hit for six by Brian O’Driscoll’s Leinster side as the Dubliners carried off the Magners League title in style with a 41-8 victory at the RDS.

Playing with the wind in the first-half the visitors conceded two tries from close range penalties to the rampaging Springbok prop Ollie Le Roux as Leinster set the scene for a massive celebratory party.

Some deft handling from O’Driscoll paved the way for a third try for Shane Horgan and then Shane Jennings, Chris Whittaker and Cameron Jowitt completed the rout as Leinster notched their biggest win of the season.

The only points for the Dragons came from the boot of Cardiff Blues bound Ceri Sweeney in the first-half and then a 76th minute consolation score from Adam Black.

The Dragons move on to their Welsh derby clash with the Ospreys on Tuesday night as they seek the points they need to clinch the place in the Heineken Cup play-off match against the third-placed Italian side.
