WRU – EGM REQUEST
Having received notification that their first submission didn’t have the required 10 requisitions to call an EGM, the clubs’ convenor, Howard Watkins, submitted one more requisition to the Union on Friday morning.
“Without pre-judging the decision to be taken by the Board on 18 April, it is possible we could stage two EGMs on the same day next month,” explained WRU chairman David Pickering.
“We were not in a position to accede to the club’s initial request for an EGM because only nine of the 13 requisitions presented to us supported the proposed motion. Now that that error has been addressed the Board will reconsider the clubs’ request.
“The Board has to hold a board meeting within 21 days of receiving a formal request for an EGM and then, if the request is valid, set a date for the EGM within 28 days after that. Having resolved to adjourn our own EGM for 14 May, to discuss the role of the Group Chief Executive, it could well be that we consider holding the two meetings at the same venue on the same day.”
