“After the defeat by New Zealand we know we need maximum points, including the bonus points, from the matches against Scotland and Romania,” said Burnell. “We have made six changes but the thinking behind that is to look at different combinations while giving everyone an opportunity to stake their claim – there is still a long way to go in this tournament.
“And now that we have had a chance to analyse the match against New Zealand we know they were not head and shoulders better than us, that it was more of a case of our mistakes creating problems for ourselves.
“We stuck together as a squad after the match and I am confident that we can bounce back – starting on Sunday.”
Luke Ford (Blues), the son of former Wales wing Steve Ford, has joined the squad as replacement for knee injury victim Jonathan Davies and will be on the bench against the Scots.
