Tylorstown Ladies 5 v 0 Blaenau Gwent Ladies
The visitors seemed determined to get their first win over Tylorstown in several seasons and started off well, exerting some early pressure from their powerful forwards. Fortunately for the Tylorstown girls, they were able to match them up front during the first 15 minutes.
After 30 minutes, the deadlock was broken. The Tylorstown forwards secured some good ruck ball and quickly spread it out to the backs. A well timed pass from Stacey Saunders put Louise Daniels through the gap, who showed good strength to bounce the full back off before scoring for the home team.
The rest of the half was played in mid-field where Tylorstown’s superior rucking was equally matched by the Blaenau Gwent’s strong mauling. Tylorstown could have extended their lead a couple more times before the break only for some mis-timed pass or minor infringement to let them down.
The second half was a different game, for virtually the whole of the second period the Tyly XV were camped in their own 25 and took a battering. Blaenau Gwent managed to cross the try line three times but were held up on each occasion and unable to ground the ball.
The defensive display from Tylorstown was impressive, showing huge character, none more so than Rhianydd Sandford who had her best game in a Tylorstown shirt.
The score ended 5-0 and bring Tylorstown up to 3rd in the table. Tylortown’s next match sees them away to Cardiff Quins on the 26/11 and Blaenau Gwent face Llandaff North away on the same day.
