Round Up: ASDA Leagues West

The Wanderers welcome back Blues centre Dafydd Hewitt into the squad for Saturday's clash with Pontypridd at the Memorial Ground.

Second-placed Tonmawr smashed fourth-placed Kidwelly 63-7 to stake their claim for the title. They are now just two points off Corus who enjoyed a comfortable 27-14 win at home to Tonna. Third-placed Carmarthen kept the pressure on the top two sides with a 30-6 win over Gorseinon but there were other big wins in the league with mid-table Pontyberem smashing Maesteg Quins 50-20 at home.

There is no breathing space for Aberystwyth at the top of ASDA League Three West as they beat Llanelli Wanderers 21-10, but stay neck-and-neck with second-placed Llangefni who squeezed past Trimsaran 20-19. Both Aber and Llangefni are locked on 34 points while third-placed Tumble are a single point behind thanks to their comprehensive 41-17 win at Haverfordwest.

Bottom-side Pontarddulais came within a converted try of a win at fourth-placed Newcastle Emelyn as they went down 18-11. Llanybydder remain run-away leaders of ASDA League Four West by virtue of their 26-6 win at strugglers Burry Port, while second-placed Tenby United are still seven points off the pace despite their 21-10 win at Pembroke.

Cardigan, in third place, kept the heat on United with a hard-fought win at Hendy, while mid-table Morriston made lightwork of a spectacular 47-0 win at fourth-placed Llandeilo. Neyland also posted a cricket score over guests New Dock Stars with a 63-0 romp.

Tycroes are destined for the ASDA League Five West title as they opened up a 12-point gap at the top of the table with a 41-5 win over struggling guests St Davids. Five defeats this season have hamstrung second-placed Llangym’s efforts to close the considerable gap, but they made a fist of it with a 40-7 win over Pontyates.
