Second placed Old Illtydians crushed Risca 49-29, but it wasn’t enough to deny their title rivals. Tredegar Ironsides claimed a 24-20 win over Llandaff.
Tony Smith crashed over for a last gasp try which could save Nantymoel from relegation as they edged out Ynysybwl 24-21 in Division Two. Winger Smith’s injury time score saw them secure a crucial win which lifts Nantymoel to third-from-bottom above fellow strugglers Llantwit Fardre, who lost 31-15 at Treherbert.
Second placed Rumney notched a 60-5 hammering of third placed Tredegar while Pill Harriers swept aside wooden spoonists Abergavenny with a 63-0 whitewash. Tony Jayne bagged four tries as he led Brynithel to a 22-21 victory over struggling Blaina in Division Three.
Kris Moses was the hero as he scored all Abercarn’s points in their 11-10 win over Pontllanfraith to hand them their first win of the season.
Pencoed, champions of Division Three South East, completed their season with a flourish and maintained their unbeaten home record with a 29-12 triumph over Llanishen. Hugh Rees, Lloyd Ryland, Keiron Moore, Gareth ‘Jaffa’ Jenkins and Keith Burke all ran in fine individual tries and Ken Morris put over two conversions.
Tonyrefail had too much power for Treorchy after claming a 37-22 win while Tylorstown edged out Fairwater 28-22. In Division Four South East, it’s going to go right down to the wire to decide who faces the drop as three teams are now on 27 points after Cardiff HSOB won 25-13 at fellow strugglers Cefn Coed.
Ynysddu centre Martin Gleadall claimed a penalty double to clinch a narrow 6-5 victory against fourth placed Usk in Division Five East.
