Humphreys And Davies Sign New Deals

Welsh hookers Jonathan Humphreys and Mefin Davies have both been given a boost today after securing their futures for another season.
Former Wales skipper Humphreys will captain Bath this season while current No 2 Davies will today sign for Welsh Premiership part-timers Neath.
Davies is the last of the Celtic Warriors squad to find a new employer after the region was disbanded in the summer. The 31-year-old, first choice hooker for Wales on their recent tour to Argentina and South Africa, failed to win a contract with any of the four regional sides despite turning down a lucrative offer from Stade Francais.
Meanwhile Humphreys, 35, will carry on leading Bath having stepped in during England lock Danny Grewcock’s international duty last season, and was also in charge in the Zurich Premiership final loss to Wasps at Twickenham.
The former Cardiff hooker will be assisted by vice-captains and England internationals Mike Tindall and Steve Borthwick.
‘I’m looking forward to what promises to be an exciting season as standards across the Zurich Premiership increase year on year, while the Heineken Cup will be an immense challenge for us,’ said Humphreys.
The Bath squad left yesterday (THU) for a two-match tour to South Africa. They play Berea Rovers on Monday, and Natal Sharks on Saturday week as a curtain-raiser to the Tri-Nations clash between South Africa and Australia in Durban.
