Bridgend just made it by 14-8 over Swansea and Gareth Morgan switched to centre as Llandovery defeated Caerphilly 28-15 and in doing so he took his points to 110, thus being the leading scorer in the division.
At 5.30pm came the televised match as Newport went to a wet Carmarthen and trailed 3-0 at the interval, needing a win and seven tries to overhaul Neath. They gained the win thanks to 10 second-half points, but gained only one try in the 10-3 success and remained second.
