Pooler led 19-0 after half an hour with tries by skipper Cae Trayhern, Sam Mills and centre Andrew Sliczny – the latter being the younger brother of Pontypool regular Adam Sliczny. Jonathan Williams converted twice, but the Drovers gradually came back.

Gareth Morgan placed three penalty goals, a drop goal and conversions to a brace of tries by back-row forward Eifion Gwynne. The latter brought his try-total to five in the last three outings. Pontypool’s only reply was a Williams penalty.

This Saturday’s match between Cardiff and Carmarthen Quins has been postponed as the Blues are using the Arms Park and Carmarthen Athletic have priority at their jointly-shared pitch.
