The WRU is delighted to announce that a special show is to be held at the Millennium Stadium on the afternoon of Monday 2 May to celebrate the historic achievement of the Welsh squad in winning the RBS 6 Nations Championship title and the Grand Slam.
In conjunction with the Welsh Assembly Government, Cardiff City Council and South Wales Police, the WRU has studied various options available to mark the team’s outstanding success, and as a result, an event will be staged which will include live entertainment, big screen footage of Wales’ RBS Six Nations performances and live greetings from the team and management.
It will be a family occasion and an opportunity for many people who weren’t lucky enough to have seen the team in action during this season’s RBS Six Nations matches at the Millennium Stadium to sample some of the excitement of those historic days for themselves.
WRU chairman David Pickering said: “This will be an opportunity for people from all over Wales to congregate in our fantastic stadium and commemorate the marvellous success of our squad.
“This is a great focal point that will be followed by a wide range of activities spread over the length and breadth of Wales which will take the RBS Six Nations trophy and rugby to all corners and communities of Wales.”
Millennium Stadium General Manager Paul Sergeant, who will manage the event, said, “We will be putting on an afternoon’s entertainment for all the family. We are currently working on the content of the event and we will release more details over the coming week.”
