Ystrad Rhondda and Merthyr will get the perfect start to their new lives in the WRU National League Division 1 with plum home draws on the opening day of the new season on Saturday, 3 September. Division 2 East champions Ystrad will re-new hostilities with old rivals Beddau, while Merthyr will host one of the three clubs relegated from the Premier Division, Llanharan.
Meanwhile, Newbridge will start life in Division 1 with a trip to Llangennech, while the third relegated Premiership side, Caerphilly, will be tested by Narberth at Virginia Park.
The advance from 16 to 15 clubs this season will mean that there will be no free-weekends for any of the clubs and no midweek matches until the ninth round of fixtures, when clubs will play on the eve of the opening round of the WRU’s Autumn Series Tests, Friday, 4 November.
