BLUES SQUEEZE WIN IN GLASGOW

Club graphic

The hosts started well and soon built up a ten point lead within 15 minutes as skipper Dan Parks converted a close range penalty and Calvin Howarth finished off Sam Pinder’s break, which Parks also converted. However they then sat back and allowed the Blues back into the game with two tries.

Howarth failed to get to grips with Nicky Robinson who breezed past him for the first bone. Howarth was the chief culprit in the Blues’s second as he allowed winger Craig Morgan to stroll past him in the right-hand corner. Robinson slotted both conversions to give the Blues a 14-10 lead at the interval.

Glasgow continued to play the perfect hosts – this time allowing flanker Maama Molitika to brush aside their weak challenges and score under the posts giving Robinson an easy conversion. The Warriors shook off some of their ennui with a try from winger Mike Roberts skipper over. But the Blues were soon back in command with Molitika barrelling over from close quarters to claim his second. Lee Thomas added the extras.

Rory Lamont then gave the hosts some hope as he charged down the line for their third touchdown, and although Howarth struck the upright with a penalty, he did salvage a consolation bonus point with a injury-time penalty.
