Charvis Is The 117th Wales Captain

Charvis takes over the captaincy from the injured Scott Quinnell and will also pack down at No 8 in the absence of his fellow 2001 Lions tourist as Wales go in search of their second win of the Championship.
“I am absolutely delighted to have reclaimed my place in the team, getting an opportunity to start was the first priority,” said Charvis.
“The extra responsibility of captaincy came more as a surprise and although welcome, must not be allowed to interfere with my playing performance. It’s nice to be at the helm, knowing that I am surrounded by so many experienced and capable players. I am confident that as a collective force we can do the nation proud.”
Mark Taylor, who last played for Wales virtually a year ago, in the 33-23 victory over Italy in Rome, resumes his Test career after recovering from a knee injury suffered in Australia with the Lions last summer. Taylor, who will win his 31st cap, will form the fourth different midfield partnership Wales have used in the 2002 Championship, Taylor at outside centre to Andy Marinos.
Taylor comes in at the expense of Gareth Thomas as one of the potential six changes National Coach Steve Hansen makes from the team beaten 50-10 by England at Twickenham 11 days ago.
In addition to Charvis for Quinnell and Taylor for Thomas, Rhys Williams is called up on the right wing in place of Dafydd James; Barry Williams takes over from Robin McBryde at hooker and Ian Gough comes in at lock in place of Chris Wyatt. The possible sixth change could see a fit again Stephen Jones back at fly half for Iestyn Harris.
