Welsh Under-21 Victory Over Scotland

Welsh Under-21 Victory Over Scotland

Wales Under 21 64, Scotland Under 21 20
Nicky Robinson produced a glorious display to spearhead the rout of the
Scots at Virginia Park, Caerphilly, today for Wales to notch up their fourth win in the Six Nations Under 21 Championship.
The Cardiff fly half turned in a near faultless performance – including one
of the 10 Welsh tries as the Scots were left holding the wooden spoon.
Wales scored their first try after just three minutes, Robinson starting and
then finishing a move in which Swansea full back Gareth Swales and Cardiff lock Luke Tait were prominent.
And with Wales ruling the roost in the line-out through Tait, who was head and
shoulders above the rest, and his second row partner Ryan Jones (UWIC),
Scotland were constantly under the hammer as Wales swept to a a 26-6 half-
time lead.
Behind the scrum Robinson, who did not miss a touch kick all afternoon,
orchestrated things superbly with Hal Luscombe (Newport) and captain Matthew
Brayley (Swansea) a fine blend in the centre.
The best of the 10 Welsh tries was their eighth, Robinson finding James
Strong with a delightful inside pass and the London Welsh wing showing both
deceptive and powerful running to shred the Scottish defence.
Swales and Cardiff wing Liam Roberts both crossed for braces of tries as
the Welsh stars of the future turned on the style to get the international
weekend off to a real flier.
Wales Under 21: Tries – Gareth Swales (2), Laim Roberts (2), James Strong,
Hal Luscombe, Nicky Robinson, Gareth Williams, Matthew Miles, Penalty try;
Conversions – Nicky Robinson (7).
Scotland Under 21: Tries – Scott Lawson, Mark Rennie; Conversions –
Ander Monro (2); Penalty goals – Ander Monro (2).
