i Can’t Wait! – Lewis
Bridgend coach Allan Lewis believes his side’s mouth-watering game against Bath on Saturday is the type of match that European rugby was made for.
“On a personal level I can’t wait for the game,” said Lewis.
“It’s going to be a great spectacle for the fans and they should see some great rugby. I’m a big fan of European competition.
“It’s all very well playing Welsh side’s week in, week out but these are the types of games the players want to be involved in.
“These are also the type of games the fan’s want to come and see. It captures the imagination and it should be a great game.”
Lewis is expecting a tough time for his side who haven’t played a competitive game since November 2, when they beat Ebbw Vale 7-6 in the Welsh Premiership.
“We’re bound to be a bit rusty,” admitted Lewis.
“Obviously they’ve being playing regularly so we’ll have to be on top of our game if we are to progress through.
“Up-front is going to be a key area and our pack have got a important part to play.
“They’ve also got some great centres. Mike Tindall and Kevin Maggs are class and we’ll have to keep a close eye on them.
“But luckily the game is at the Brewery field. It’s always easier to play at home and hopefully we can get something out of the game to set it up for the return at the Recreation Ground.
“Bath have a fine tradition of cup rugby and they’ll be confident of winning this tournament…but don’t write us off.”
