One of the most charismatic players in the world game, Thomas Castaignede is a very real threat.

Skilful, fast, and unpredictable, Castaignede has represented his country at full-back, centre, wing and fly-half. When Castaignede burst onto the international scene by scoring 22-points against Romania on his debut in 1995, a glittering future was predicted.

He played in the first game of France’s 1997 Grand Slam campaign before injury struck but he returned in 1998 to play in four games at outside-half as France romped to their second straight clean sweep.

Further injury problems blighted the mercurial talent, and in when he suffered a ruptured achilles tendon back in November 2001, the world watched with baited breath to see if the former Toulouse man would ever reach the top level again.

Four operations later Castaignede returned to the field for Saracens against Northampton in April 2002.

The club showed great faith in their Gaelic genius and offered him a new four year contract, a decision he was rewarded with a string of outstanding displays in the current Zurich Premiership and PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP.
