The conditions were perfect and the East girls displayed their best district game of the season showing excellent running rugby, backed up by a solid defence which stopped the South-west’s onslaughts in their tracks in the first half.
The East broke through the South West’s defences on a number of occasions resulting in tries for Branwen Scrivens and Tanya Davies. A conversion from Sara Wellend gave the East a 12-0 lead at the break.
The South-West girls responded with two well deserved tries in the second half but further tries from the East captain Sam Jones and Carly Tutton and another good kick from Sara Wellend finished the game 24-10.
The district games have been a useful tool in the development of players at Under 16 level. The regional trials start on the 13th April with North Wales playing West Wales in Bala.
