Division Two provided one of the biggest shocks of the season when the students of UWIC made it a magnificent week by thrashing leaders Llangennech 46-7 and running in seven tries in the process.
This followed a 29-28 midweek win over Loughborough at Oxford that sends UWIC to the British Universities final against Northumbria at Twickenham.
Second-placed Carmarthen Athletic won 18-9 with wing Kelvin Rees gaining their two tries and Julian Howells, back from a short retirement, kicking two penalties and a conversion.
Abercynon edged out Corus (PT) by 31-29 with a late Robbie Savage penalty and Merthyr’s splendid run continued with a 20-10 success at Brynmawr, while Llantrisant ace Jason Alford kicked five penalties and a conversion in a 29-22 win over Hirwaun, for whom Dean Hughes responded with six similar goals.

Division Six North. Back-row forward Dewi Williams has led his side to 16 wins and just one defeat (at home to Colwyn Bay) and there is just one match left to play.
Penygraig remain three points ahead at the top of 3 East, but Ystrad Rhondda moved into second place by going to Croesyceiliog and winning 29-22. Penygraig smashed fourth-placed Pencoed 59-30 with a 9-4 try-count as Dale McIntosh scored a hat-trick.
Brecon regained leadership of 4 East after holding off Llanishen 12-6 and hearing that Treherbert had fallen by 15-14 at Rhydyfelin. In 5 East, Newport Saracens ran riot with a 64-7 win at Old Penarthians and Brynithel scored a fine 27-13 win over Barry and Fairwater won the crunch 6 East match by 27-21 at nearby Cardiff HSOB and Bargoed gained a good 22-9 win at Bedlinog. Llandaff beat Llantwit Major in 7 East with four tries and Llandaff North notched four in beating Canton 27-13 with Bettws looming dangerous after a 20-17 verdict at Trinant.
In 5 North, Nant Conwy retained the leadership after a 28-5 win over Mold with Llangefni hot on their heels after defeating Newtown 50-11.
The 3 West leaders Felinfoel are eight points ahead of Cwmllynfell with a match in hand after a 28-5 victory at Aberystwyth, but in 4 West Bryncoch and Pontyberem both won again and are level on 54 points from 20 matches. Llandeilo stay ahead of Hendy and Trebanos in 5 West after all three had narrow wins and 6 West leaders Cwmgors beat off Burry Port 34-21 to keep a six-point lead over Llanelli Wanderers with a match in hand. Pontyates head 7 West, but have strong opposition from Cefneithin and Pontardawe with all three winning on Saturday.
Unbeaten 5 Central club Nantymoel still have Banwen level on points but having played one more match, while in 6 Central, Abercwmboi’s 54-7 win at Bridgend Athletic leave them one point away from the title in a division where Abercrave scored an amazing 78-24 win away to Neath Athletic. The 7 Central title was there for Cwmgwrach to take if they won at Tonna, but they went down by 20-0 and Cwmgwrach now require a maximum of four points from their last two matches to secure the title.
